Job summary

Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc. is seeking a Wirtgen Group Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician/Mechanic to perform in-field repairs on paving and related equipment. The role requires traveling to customer sites, diagnosing issues, ordering parts, and documenting technical reports.

A valid driver’s license and the ability to read hydraulic/electrical schematics are essential. We offer relocation assistance for qualified candidates, uniforms and safety boots, ongoing training, and paid accident

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
• Two (2) years of continuous experience in diagnosing and repairing construction equipment.
• Ability to read complex hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Furnish and maintain a set of tools and any specialty tools required by the company.
• Ability to work overtime, stay overnight, and work on the weekend when needed.
• Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license; CDL if required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid DOT medical card.

Responsibilities

• Operates a mobile service vehicle and travels to customer locations to perform in-field repairs on various brands of paving, milling/reclaimer, aggregate material handling and compaction equipment.
• Diagnoses and evaluates problems with equipment and makes repairs using established guidelines, following established flat rates.
• Plans methods and sequence of performing assigned repairs.
• Maintains the service truck in good working condition and cleanliness.
• Completes required paperwork efficiently and promptly.
• Attends factory and other training as specified by the supervisor.
