Job summary

DESCO Service is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to support Acuity Brands with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial lighting, electrical, and control systems. This field-based role requires traveling to customer locations and working independently to solve technical issues.

The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics.

Qualifications

• Experience in field service, electrician, electrical technician or lighting technician roles.
• Hands-on experience with electrical systems, commercial equipment, lighting or low-voltage systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to read wiring diagrams and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial lighting, electrical, and control systems.
• Perform field service activities including diagnostics, testing, commissioning, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Troubleshoot electrical wiring, power, low-voltage, communication, networking, and control-related issues.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
• Perform low-voltage wiring and Cat5/network-related work when required.
• Use electrical testing and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve system issues.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding equipment status, troubleshooting findings, and repairs.
• Coordinate with DESCO management, dispatch, manufacturer representatives, and customer contacts to ensure timely completion of service activities.
• Accurately document work performed, parts used, test results, and other required service information.
• Follow applicable electrical safety procedures, codes, standards, and company policies.
• Travel to customer and project locations as required.
