Job summary

Thompson Machinery is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and service of Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment. You will work largely independently from a field service truck at customer locations and service shops.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of diagnostic experience and strong communication skills, with willingness to travel regionally; a valid DOT medical card and basic tools are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; field service training preferred.
• 5+ years of equipment diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting experience with construction equipment.
• Strong customer service focus and professional communication.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals and procedures.
• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment and power trains.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and quality repairs at customer locations or service shops.
• Travel within assigned region; overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required; occasional overnight travel.
• Maintain a valid state driver’s license with DOT medical card.
• Operate and maintain basic set of industrial tools and test equipment.
• Communicate with customers to provide exceptional service and maintain safety and quality standards.
