Job summary

Mid-Atlantic Truck & Equipment is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join the Compactor team. This hands-on role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing equipment in the field, with a strong emphasis on hydraulics, electrical work, welding, and mechanical repair.

You will diagnose hydraulic and electrical issues, repair motors and pumps, fabricate chutes, and install balers. The position offers competitive pay, a bonus structure, and regular daytime hours in a field

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing compactors.
• Experience repairing heavy equipment, vocational equipment, or industrial machinery.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience with welding, cutting, and basic fabrication.
• Comfort using hand tools, power tools, torches, and measuring equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Commitment to safe work practices and following required procedures.
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot issues in the field.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and structural issues on compactors and related equipment.
• Repair and replace motors, pumps, hydraulic cylinders, valves, controls, and other components.
• Perform welding and fabrication work, including cutting and replacing chutes, guide rails, and other structures.
• Install and service equipment such as trash compactors and cardboard balers at customer locations.
• Use torches, cutting tools, welding equipment, and other shop/field tools to complete repairs.
• Work independently in the field, assess issues, and see jobs through to completion.
• Follow required safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and safe work practices.
• Maintain accurate service and repair documentation and ensure equipment is returned in safe condition.
• Communicate effectively with customers and the service team about issues and recommendations.
