Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. seeks a Field Service Technician to perform hands-on mechanical work at electrical substations and customer sites across the US. Responsibilities include supporting transformer testing, operating oil-handling systems, and ensuring safety and quality on site. A strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of professional work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 85%.
  • Class A CDL is a plus.
  • Welding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stand, stoop, bend, and walk for long shifts.

  • Operate and maintain Vacuum Oil Processors (VOPs) and oil-handling equipment with logs.
  • Support transformer testing activities and collaborate with field teams to complete projects.

Join Hitachi Energy as a Field Service Technician and become part of our fast-growing Service organization. From rapid response and performance improvement to operational efficiency and life-cycle support, our teams work directly with customers to help maintain the reliability and performance of critical transformer equipment. Reporting to the Regional Field Operation Manager and supporting the US Services HUB, you’ll work alongside experienced field professionals at electrical substations and customer sites across the country. You’ll perform hands-on mechanical work, inspect and service equipment, support transformer testing, and gain experience with specialized oil-processing equipment. With travel of up to 85%, no two days will look exactly the same. You’ll have the opportunity to experience different customer environments, solve real‑world technical challenges, and continue building valuable transformer and field service expertise. Your background
  • High school diploma/GED and at least 2 years of professional work experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 85%.

  • Ability to climb ladders and stand, stoop, bend, and walk for extended periods of up to 12 hours per day.
