Dematic Corporation is hiring a Regional Field Service Technician 4 with a controls focus. The role travels 100% across North America to support installed Dematic systems, performing service, maintenance, and training for customers.

Under the Field Service Manager, you will install/adjust PLCs and sensors, perform semi-complex maintenance, and document inspections. Strong troubleshooting, report writing, and PC hardware/software knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Trade school or 2-year degree in mechanical/electrical tech; engineering degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years troubleshooting electromechanical equipment; knowledge of material handling systems.
• Willingness to travel 80%+ and potentially away for a month; travel expenses covered.
• Ability to write concise trip reports and use PC hardware/software tools.
• Experience with PLCs and controls systems is required.

Responsibilities

Dematic Corporation is now hiring a Regional Field Service Technician 4 with a controls focus. Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, this position provides service and repair and service and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment. As the Dematic representative in the Customer's facility, this position is heavily responsible for maintaining customer goodwill toward Dematic. The primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for customer use and that customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment. This role can be based anywhere throughout North America, preferably by an airport for travel. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. This role will be 100% travel.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $38 to $42.50 an hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What You Will Do In This Role:

• Participates in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs and overhauls.
• Participates in training customers on semi-complex products and services.
• Perform installation/adjustments on PLCs, sensors, etc. using controls software from various vendors.
• Performs semi-complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintains documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures.
• Participates in responding to semi-complex service calls.
• Participates in the assessment of semi-complex product/equipment performance based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements.
• Performs semi-complex work within technical or paraprofessional area.
• Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.
• Refers complex, unusual problems to others.

What We Are Looking For:

• Trade school graduate or two-year associate’s degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.
• Two years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment. The successful candidate must have some work experience with material handling equipment. Service experience with Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), or conveyors is highly prized.
• Must be willing to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling. May be continuously away from home for as long as a month (offer travel expenses).
• Must be willing to be available during off hours and travel accordingly.
• Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts.
• Must be able to act calmly in stressful situations.
• Must be able to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Dematic procedures.
• Must have knowledge in the use of personal computers for word processing, database functions and communications. Understanding personal computer hardware setup and software configuration required.
• Working experience with troubleshooting Programable Logistic Controllers (PLC) is required.
• Able to lift and move material up to 50 pounds each.
• Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
• Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds.
• Able to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation.
• Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces.
