Job summary

Dematic Corporation is hiring a Regional Field Service Technician 4 with a controls focus. The role travels 100% and supports installed Dematic systems and equipment across North America, aiming to maximize system availability and customer satisfaction.

Under Field Service Manager, you will train customers, perform installations on PLCs and sensors, and document maintenance and repairs. Travel-heavy with potential month-long assignments, weekends/holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum experience troubleshooting electromechanical equipment.
• Experience with material handling equipment is required.
• AGV/AS/RS or conveyors experience highly valued.
• Willing to travel >80% and possibly be away for a month.
• Trade school or associate degree in mechanical/electrical tech; engineering degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs and overhauls.
• Trains customers on semi-complex products and services.
• Performs installation/adjustments on PLCs, sensors, using controls software from various vendors.
• Maintains documentation of inspections, maintenance and repair work.
• Responds to semi-complex service calls.
• Assesses product/equipment performance and suggests improvements.
• Identifies problems and takes steps to resolve them in non-complex scenarios.

Education

Dematic Corporation is now hiring a Regional Field Service Technician 4 with a controls focus. Under the direction of the Field Service Manager, this position provides service and repair and service and maintenance training for installed Dematic systems and equipment. As the Dematic representative in the Customer's facility, this position is heavily responsible for maintaining customer goodwill toward Dematic. The primary objective is to ensure that Dematic systems have the greatest availability possible for customer use and that customers are satisfied with their Dematic system and equipment. This role can be based anywhere throughout North America, preferably by an airport for travel. Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required. This role will be 100% travel.

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be$38to $42.50an hourat the time of posting. Final compensation willbedeterminedbyvarious factorssuch as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

What You Will Do In This Role:

Participates in semi-complex equipment trial runs, investigative tests, repairs and overhauls.

Participates in training customers on semi-complex products and services.

Perform installation/adjustments on PLCs, sensors, etc. using controls software from various vendors

Performs semi-complex maintenance on tools, test equipment, etc., and maintains documents of all inspections, maintenance and repair work, and failures.

Participates in responding to semi-complex service calls.

Participates in the assessment of semi-complex product/equipment performance based on field support data and recommends modifications or improvements.

Performs semi-complex work within technical or paraprofessional area.

Effectively identifies problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them in situations where the problem is not difficult or complex.

Refers complex, unusual problems to others.

What We Are Looking For:

Trade school graduate or two-year associate's degree in a mechanical, electrical, or mechanical technician program. Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred.

Two years (minimum) experience in troubleshooting electromechanical and/or mechanical equipment. The successful candidate must have some work experience with material handling equipment. Service experience with

Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS), or conveyors is highly prized.

Must be willing to travel on short notice and spend more than 80% of the time traveling. May be continuously away from home for as long as a month (offer travel expenses).

Must be willing to be available during off hours and travel accordingly.

Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and off shifts.

Must be able to act calmly in stressful situations.

Must be able to write concise, clear, and complete trip reports in the time frame required according to Dematic procedures.

Must have knowledge in the use of personal computers for word processing, database functions and communications. Understanding personal computer hardware setup and software configuration required.

Working experience with troubleshooting Programable Logistic Controllers (PLC) is required.

Able to lift and move material up to 50 pounds each

Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head

Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds

Able to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation

Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours, and wet or uneven surfaces
