Job summary

Newman Stewart in North America seeks a Field Service Technician to support bakery processing equipment across the region. You will travel extensively, install and commission new lines, perform maintenance, and troubleshoot complex integrated systems.

The role requires strong electrical/mechanical fault finding, PLC knowledge, and excellent communication to train customers and document service activities. A proactive, customer-focused problem solver with a passport is ideal.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
• Experience supporting automated production machinery.
• Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel throughout the United States and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Installation and commissioning of bakery processing equipment at customer sites.
• Preventative maintenance, inspections, and emergency breakdown support.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system faults.
• Support production trials, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
• Deliver operator and maintenance training to customer teams.
• Complete detailed service reports and technical documentation.
• Build strong customer relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor.
• Work closely with engineering, project, and spare parts teams to deliver exceptional service support.

This position would suit a hands-on engineer who enjoys travel, customer interaction, and solving complex technical challenges in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

• Installation and commissioning of bakery processing equipment at customer sites.
• Performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and emergency breakdown support.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system faults.
• Support production trials, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.

• OEM capital equipment

The successful candidate will have:
