Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Field Service Technician for a 2-month contract in Sterling Heights, MI. You will install, maintain, and repair POS hardware, printers, and related equipment while delivering excellent customer service.

The role requires hands-on hardware experience, Lexmark certifications, and a valid driver’s license. You may work evenings and participate in on-call rotations as needed.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years field dispatch repair and hands-on hardware experience.
• Lexmark certifications and experience.
• Lexmark printer break-fix and installs; HP/Dell/Lenovo experience.
• Previous Field Service/Desktop/POS/Printer Break/Fix experience.
• Excellent technical troubleshooting and customer service skills.
• Driver’s license and reliable transportation; driving position with reimbursement.
• CompTIA A+ certification.
• Strong customer service and communication under pressure.
• Basic networking concepts and restaurant tech familiarity.
• Ability to perform light physical tasks (drilling, mounting).
• Willingness to work evenings and be on-call.
• Account training and network cable termination training.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service while supporting clients and staff.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair POS systems, hardware, peripherals, and printers.
• Repair OEM vendor printers using warranty and non-warranty approaches.
• Diagnose issues and clearly communicate solutions to customers.
• Document work, maintain configurations, and perform upgrades or replacements.
• Perform light contractor tasks (drilling, mounting, cabling) as needed.
• Train employees on supported systems and equipment.
• Diagnose product failures and order/replace parts as needed.
• Recommend products, services, or solutions based on customer needs.
• Apply knowledge of operations and backend workflows for seamless integration.
• Follow procedures with minimal supervision.
• Report to Team Lead or Field Services Manager.

Our client is looking for a Field Service Technician for a 2-month contract in Sterling Heights, MI 48310.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis now and in the future.

Required Skills & Experience

• 0-2 years of field dispatch repair and hands-on hardware experience (printers, PCs, POS, etc.), break-fix, use of power tools (e.g., drills), and familiarity with the ticketing system.
• Lexmark certifications and experience.
• Experience with Lexmark printer break-fix and equipment installs, and HP, Dell, and Lenovo.
• Previous Field Service and/or Desktop, POS, printer Break/Fix experience
• Excellent technical troubleshooting and customer service skills
• Reliable transportation and clean driving record required (This is a driving position – reimbursed accordingly)

What You Will Be Doing

• Provide exceptional customer service while supporting clients and their staff.
• Install, maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair POS systems, hardware, peripherals, and related printer equipment.
• Install, maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair various OEM vendor printers using both a warranty and non-warranty repair approach.
• Resolve technical issues efficiently and clearly communicate solutions to customers.
• Document work performed, maintain system configurations, and execute hardware/software upgrades or replacements.
• Perform light contractor work such as drilling, mounting hardware, and running cabling as needed to complete installations or repairs.
• Train employees for proper use of supported systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and repair product failures; order and replace parts as needed.
• Recommend appropriate products, services, or solutions based on customer needs.
• Apply working knowledge of operations and backend workflows to ensure seamless technology integration with the client.
• Follow established procedures and guidelines while working with minimal to no supervision.
• Report to a Team Lead and/or Field Services Manager.
