Job summary

NOV is seeking a Field Service Technician to support customers with NOV products across sites. The role involves travel to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on safe and proper operation, and to perform field software/hardware upgrades.

Candidates must have a high school diploma, basic electrical schematic literacy, and at least 1 year of mechanical experience. Valid driver’s license and ability to pass drug/background checks are required.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge is required.
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics and basic electrical drawings.
  • Minimum 1 year’s mechanical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with relevant departments to understand NOV products and how they are operated, tested, calibrated and problems resolved.
  • Travel to customer sites to inspect, install, commission, test, calibrate, repair and train customers on NOV products.
  • Perform field upgrades of software and hardware and train customers on proper operation.
  • Communicate field failures and feedback reports to appropriate departments.
  • Complete and submit field service documentation in a timely manner.
  • Comply with NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
  • Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair drilling equipment.
  • Provide training to other NOV Field Service Technicians.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports to appropriate personnel regarding work progress.
  • Work in repair shop when needed.

  • Work in repair shop when needed.
Education & Experience Qualifications
  • Must possess a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and basic electrical drawings required.
  • Minimum 1 years’ mechanical experience required.
Job Requirements
  • Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
  • Valid Driver’s license required – as you will be operating a company vehicle.
  • Must provide transportation from home to the office. Transportation to customer’s location will be provided.
  • Must obtain NOV corporate credit card and maintain an active status per NOV credit card policy.
  • Overtime will be required – must be willing & able to work nights, weekend, and on-call 24/7.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics required.
  • Ability to utilize various electrical diagnostic tools including multimeters, oscilloscope, and basic hand tools required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customer and contractor personnel.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to work well in a team environment as well as self-directed when working independently.
  • Willingness to comply with all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Must be able to work under pressure to achieve deadlines.
  • Ability to meet or exceed standards as established by the department.
  • Ability to adapt and be cross-trained to learn all job duties.
  • Work in harsh environments including rain, snow, heat, and heights in excess of 150 feet.
