Job summary

Astrix in Lancaster, PA is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician for a mid-September through mid-December project-based engagement. You will provide hands-on hardware maintenance, setup, and on-site support across multiple sites with travel weekly.

The role requires comfort working with computers in a fast-paced environment, the ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues, and strong documentation skills. Onsite work only; pay ranges from $25–$30 hourly.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of relevant experience preferred in field service or IT hardware support.
• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience in information technology or computer science preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
• Pick up, move, position, and set up computers and related equipment.
• Plug in and connect computer equipment and verify network connectivity.
• Assist users with logging in and resolving basic access issues.
• Install, document, maintain, upgrade, and replace hardware and software systems.
• Support user accounts, permissions, security, and system groups.
• Identify and resolve product and equipment failures.
• Order and replace hardware parts as needed.
• Provide hands-on technical support at customer sites.
• Train employees on applicable hardware, systems and procedures.
• Travel to various sites weekly to support project requirements.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to provide hands-on technical support, hardware maintenance, and onsite equipment services throughout a project-based engagement from mid-September through mid-December.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technology professional who is comfortable working directly with computers and hardware in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. This role will involve setting up, moving, connecting, troubleshooting, and maintaining computer equipment at various sites, as well as assisting users with basic technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, analyze, troubleshoot, and repair computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.

• Determine and recommend products or services that best meet customer needs.
• Travel to various sites each week to support project requirements.
• Work collaboratively with other technicians and, when appropriate, provide direction or leadership to other team members.
• Maintain accurate documentation of equipment, repairs, upgrades, and other technical activities.
• Perform other related technical duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• 8-10 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Associate degree or equivalent education/experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and hands-on technical experience may be considered.
• Extensive knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals, software, and related technologies.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions based on experience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

This is a 100% onsite, project-based position supporting locations throughout the area.
