Job summary

Shuttleworth is seeking a field service technician to install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machines and equipment, with approximately 85% travel across the United States and occasional international work. You will perform onsite installation, startup, troubleshooting, and training at customer sites.

The role requires interpreting blueprints and ladder logic, electrical component installation, and providing customer training.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1–2 years related experience preferred.
  • Willing and able to travel approximately 85% of the time; valid driver's license and passport or eligible to obtain one.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Skill to troubleshoot electrical wiring and ladder logic programs.
  • Strong numerical skills using various units of measure.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Communicate effectively to groups of customers or employees.

Responsibilities

  • Dismantle machines and equipment to access problem areas.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
  • Remove and replace worn or defective parts.
  • Realign and adjust components.
  • Start-up and debug equipment to test operation after repair/installation.
  • Install and troubleshoot electrical components.
  • Understand PLCs and ladder logic.
  • Make limited software changes.
  • Provide training to customers on proper maintenance and operation of equipment.

Job description

Shuttleworth is seeking a field service technician who installs, repairs, rebuilds, and maintains machines and equipment such as material handling systems and automated conveyor systems to ensure team and customer success. This is a travel‑intensive position requiring approximately 85% travel throughout the United States and, occasionally, internationally. Travel may include weekday and weekend assignments, overnight stays, and extended periods at customer facilities during equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, and service activities.

Job Description
  • Perform onsite field service activities at customer locations, including installation, startup, troubleshooting, repair, and training requiring approximately 85% travel.
  • Dismantle machines and equipment to access problem areas.
  • Inspect and measure parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Oversee others when required on a service call.
  • As Lead Technician, supervise Shuttleworth personnel onsite and coordinate projects with the customer contact.
  • Direct work performed by the customer's personnel and subcontractors.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience; or minimum 1‑2 years related experience and/or training.
  • Willing and able to travel approximately 85% of the time; valid driver’s license and passport, or eligible to obtain one.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Skill to troubleshoot electrical wiring and ladder logic programs.
  • Strong numerical skills using various units of measure.
