About Apex Gear Service:

We provide industrial gearbox inspection, repair, and field service for clients across North America—serving industries such as cement, mining, pulp & paper, and power generation.

Position Summary:

We’re seeking a mechanically inclined, dependable Field Service Technician to support on-site inspections, service work, and installations of industrial gearboxes and associated equipment. This role involves frequent travel and direct interaction with customers to deliver the responsive and expert support Apex is known for.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform gearbox inspections using borescope and precision tools
• Support disassembly, repair, reassembly, and alignment of gearboxes
• Assist with on-site installations, including mechanical setup and commissioning
• Install condition monitoring sensors and low-voltage wiring to terminal boxes
• Assist in troubleshooting electrical signals and system communication
• Maintain clear documentation of work performed and inspection findings
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams
• Ensure safety and professionalism on all job sites
• Travel regularly (regional/national) – typically 70–80% of the time
• Participate in shop work when not deployed in the field

Preferred Experience:

• Field service or mechanical maintenance background
• Strong mechanical skills; electrical aptitude is a plus
• Experience with low-voltage wiring, sensors, or industrial instrumentation
• Basic knowledge of PLC systems is helpful but not required
• Comfortable working in industrial environments and heights when needed
• Self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the U.S.
