Job summary

Acorn Stairlifts, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician in Boston, MA. You will diagnose, repair, install, and maintain stairlift systems in customers’ homes while traveling within your territory.

You’ll perform preventive maintenance, provide clear operation guidance to customers, and manage documentation on a company mobile device. A valid driver's license and safe driving record are required, with opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• Mechanical, electrical, or technical aptitude with field service experience.
• Able to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain stairlift systems in customers’ homes.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain Acorn stairlift systems in customers’ homes.
• Perform preventive maintenance and annual safety inspections.
• Provide professional customer service by explaining repairs, equipment operation, and maintenance recommendations.
• Work independently within an assigned territory, managing schedules, work orders, documentation and communication on a mobile device.
• Maintain an organized company vehicle and inventory and follow safety procedures.

What You'll Do

Technical & Service Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain Acorn stairlift systems in customers’ homes.
• Perform preventive maintenance and annual safety inspections while ensuring high-quality, reliable workmanship.

Customer & Field Operations

• Provide professional customer service by explaining repairs, equipment operation, and maintenance recommendations.
• Work independently throughout an assigned territory while managing schedules, work orders, documentation, and communication using a company-provided mobile device.

Vehicle, Inventory & Safety

• Maintain an organized company vehicle and accurately manage parts inventory to ensure supplies are available when needed.
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment while representing Acorn Stairlifts with professionalism and integrity.

What We're Looking For

• Strong mechanical, electrical, or technical aptitude, with experience in field service, automotive repair, HVAC, appliance repair, maintenance, construction, or other technical trades preferred.
• Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to work comfortably in residential homes.
• Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and mobile applications for scheduling, documentation, and communication.
• Ability to manage daily workloads, prioritize multiple service calls, and work independently.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
