Qualifications

Job description

The Field Service Manager leads the execution of on-site service delivery, ensuring safe, timely, high-quality service that meets customer requirements and company standards.

Utilize your leadership skills to drive performance across a distributed field organization by leading Field Service Leads and approximately 25 Field Service Technicians. This role is responsible for workforce planning, service quality, operational efficiency, technician development, fleet vehicle management and cross-functional coordination to support growth and exceptional customer experiences.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

Operational Leadership - Lead field service operations to deliver safe, timely, and high-quality on-site calibration, inspection, and related services. Optimize scheduling, dispatch, route efficiency, utilization, and service execution while leveraging systems, tools, and standard work to improve productivity and consistency.

People Leadership - Demonstrate the ability to lead a team of Field Service Leads and approximately 25 Field Service Technicians to meet service, safety, and quality objectives. Coach leaders and technicians, set clear expectations, support onboarding and cross-training, build bench strength, and provide performance feedback, recognition, and development plans that strengthen capability and engagement.

Customer Partnership - Interface directly with customers to understand service requirements, coordinate delivery, and resolve escalations. Seek the voice of the customer to improve service offerings, ensure sustainable corrective actions for service issues, and partner with Sales, Operations, and Quality to provide seamless service between field teams and laboratory operations.

Business Acumen - Manage field service performance to achieve revenue, cost, margin, and productivity goals. Develop operating plans, monitor key metrics, support forecasting and budgeting, and partner with sales and operations leadership to expand service capabilities, improve coverage, and support profitable growth.

Continuous Improvement - Drive a culture of continuous improvement across field operations by using data, lean principles, and root-cause problem solving to eliminate waste, improve first-time quality, increase utilization, and strengthen customer experience. Reinforce safety and compliance expectations at all levels of the organization.

Strategic Planning - Develop 1-, 3-, and 5-year plans to scale field service operations, including workforce planning, territory design, technician capacity, equipment readiness, and service coverage to support business growth and customer demand. Ensure compliance with all company, customer, regulatory, and safety policies, procedures, and standards, and take corrective action when necessary. Promote a strong field safety culture by reinforcing safe work practices, supporting incident prevention, and partnering on corrective and preventive actions when issues arise.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • As Field Service Manager, provide leadership and supervisory responsibility for the day-to-day activities of a field service organization delivering on-site calibration and related technical services.
  • Directly and indirectly supervises Field Service Leads and approximately 20+ Field Service Technicians. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, workforce planning, assigning and directing work, monitoring productivity and quality, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and building a strong leadership pipeline to support growth.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, preferably in a technical or business-related field, and 7+ years of experience in field service, calibration, technical operations, or a related environment, including progressive leadership responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience leading distributed teams, coordinating service delivery across territories, and managing technician performance in a customer-facing environment is strongly preferred. Prior experience supervising frontline leaders is highly desirable.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Relevant technical, quality, or leadership certifications are desirable.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driver history
