Job summary

Rust Automation & Controls is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to support customers across the Western United States. This role focuses on hands‑on instrumentation service, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair while working independently in a variety of industrial environments and collaborating with internal service and management teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
• Associate Degree in a technical field (required).
• Field service or industrial experience (required).
• Instrumentation training or apprenticeship experience (required).
• Calibration and/or metrology experience (preferred).
• Safety certifications or credentials (preferred).
• Knowledge of instrumentation systems (required).
• Ability to use hand tools and electronic testing equipment (required).
• Strong computer proficiency and communication skills (required).
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously (required).
• Strong attention to detail with accuracy and quality (required).
• Strong interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills (required).
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment (required).
• Self-motivated with organizational skills (required).
• Willingness to travel extensively (required).

Responsibilities

• Daily travel to a diverse customer base across multiple industrial environments.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and service instrumentation equipment.
• Complete apprenticeship-level instrumentation training.
• Adapt to customer-specific safety, operational and environmental requirements.
• Hands-on troubleshooting, calibration, and repair activities.
• Use hand tools and electronic testing equipment to diagnose issues.
• Maintain professionalism, safety compliance, and quality standards in the field.
• Regional travel within UT, CA, CO, WY, NV, ID, MT, ND, HI.
