Field Service Engineer – Warranty and Quality Assurance

Position Overview

As part of our Electrification Automation (EA) Business Unit, we are seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to manage punch list items, warranty issues, and support our large data center customers. This role involves hands-on technical support, ensuring smooth installations, and driving continuous improvement in data center systems. The position is based in the Columbus, OH area, with travel across the U.S. as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-installation site visits to ensure proper storage and environmental conditions.
• Manage and resolve punch list items for data center installations.
• Oversee resolution of warranty issues, working with teams and customers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in power distribution systems.
• Assist with installation, testing, commissioning, and start-up of LV and MV equipment.
• Serve as primary contact for customer inquiries, building strong relationships.
• Provide feedback for process and product improvements.
• Support sites primarily in Columbus, OH, with nationwide travel (up to 80%).
• Maintain documentation of warranty claims and technical issues.

Qualifications

Basic

• High School diploma or GED.
• 4+ years in power distribution systems (low and medium voltage).
• Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, including switchgear and control circuits.
• Knowledge of power system testing, commissioning, and start-up.
• Ability to work independently in the field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Availability for emergency assignments and travel.
• Based in Columbus, OH, with a valid driver’s license and legal work authorization in the U.S.

Preferred

• Experience in customer service or warranty roles in data centers or industrial sectors.
• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years field service experience, especially with power systems.
• Knowledge of protection relays, SF6 breakers, project management software.
• Certifications like OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, MSHA, NETA, NICET, or TWIC.
