Job summary

Volvo Penta North America is seeking a technically skilled field service engineer to support marine and industrial engines across a defined US territory. You will troubleshoot, repair, and install products, mentor dealers, and push electrification and connectivity initiatives.

The role requires strong mechanical/electronic expertise, up to 50% travel, and close collaboration with customers, dealers, and our quality teams. Base pay reflects experience and location.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in mechanical, automotive, industrial tech or related field.
• Minimum 8 years in engine OEM, distributor, or dealer service environments.
• Expert knowledge of industrial and marine engine systems, diagnostics, controls, and repair.
• Experience with warranty processes and dealer operations.
• Emerging powertrain tech experience (electrification, hybrids, connectivity).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical resource and escalation point for complex applications and repairs.
• Respond to advanced technical inquiries via phone, cases, and on-site visits.
• Coordinate with dealer network, customers, and quality teams to drive resolution.
• Lead investigations into product complaints and safety incidents; document findings.
• Promote continuous improvement and use Volvo Penta digital tools (VPPN, case management).
• Assist with development and rollout of service bulletins and campaigns.
• Travel up to 50% and support field service across defined US territory.
