Job summary

United Machining North America LLC is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install and service precision machines and equipment in Northern California. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, analyze test cuts, and resolve machining issues per technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering with 6+ years in manufacturing or machine tools.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI; experience with test equipment and milling/EDM machines.

Responsibilities

• Install and service machines and associated products and equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance with minimal help per documentation.
• Analyze and resolve application problems of limited complexity.
• Resolve machining issues by analyzing test cuts and results per documentation.
• Provide assistance or oversee installation for less experienced Field Service Engineers.
• Assist senior engineers during on-site machine audits and equipment checks.
• Troubleshoot service and repair on untrained equipment and machines.
• Conduct training for team members and customers on safe operation and preventative maintenance.
• Maintain clear communication with customers to ensure effective service and timely reporting.
• A chart reports per department procedures; adhere to the Service Department Code of Conduct.
• Maintain regular contact with the CSC and RSM to perform duties; take on additional tasks as requested.

• Analyze and resolve application problems of limited complexity.
• Resolve machining problems appearing on parts by analyzing the regular test cuts as per technical documentation.
• Resolve problems by analyzing the result of test cuts especially prepared for this purpose.
• Provide assistance or oversee the installation of equipment or a machine of a less experienced Field Service Engineer.
• Assist a more experienced Field Service Engineer when performing an on-site audit of a machine or related equipment.
• Troubleshoot service and repair on equipment and machines where no previous training has been received.
• Conduct training for both team members and customers on safe operations and preventative maintenance of the machines and related equipment.
• Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
• Accurately complete all reports in a timely manner as per the service department procedures.

• Maintain regular contact with the Customer Support Center (CSC) and Regional Service Manager (RSM) as needed to perform job duties.

Your profile

• Associate's Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering from a University or Technical College; over 6 years' experience with a similar manufacturing or machine tool company; or and equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with the use of test equipment and Milling and/or EDM machines.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Systems, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Power BI is required. Knowledge of Great Plains or similar software programs is helpful.
