Job summary

UNITED MACHINING is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to install, service, and maintain precision machines in a Houston, TX environment. You will troubleshoot machining systems, analyze test cuts, and support customers through complex issues in collaboration with the Applications and Diagnostics teams.

Requirements include an Associate's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering, 6+ years’ experience, and strong proficiency with Power BI and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering; 6+ years in manufacturing or machine tool sector; experience with test equipment and EDM/milling machines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word); Power BI knowledge; familiarity with Great Plains or similar software.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation and service of machines and related equipment.
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance with minimal assistance.
• Identify problems and take corrective action during early product life cycle.
• Analyze and resolve simple application problems in collaboration with Applications team.
• Resolve machining issues by analyzing test cuts per technical documentation.
• Support customers during special actions by providing technical information and updates.
• Provide technical assistance to Field Service Engineers on complex problems.
• Train team members and customers on safe operation, maintenance, and preventive maintenance.

Job description

Your tasks

• Perform the installation and service of machines and associated products and equipment.
• Complete preventative and corrective maintenance tasks of a high degree of complexity with minimum technical assistance as per the technical documentation.
• Identify problems and seek corrective action during early product life cycle.
• Analyze and resolve application problems of limited complexity and liaison with Applications on more complex issues and to increase applications knowledge.
• Resolve machining problems appearing on parts by analyzing the regular test cuts as per technical documentation.
• Support special actions as "Customer Alert" or "Hot Customer" by providing technical information pertinent to resolution of problems and provide regular status updates to involved parties.
• Provide technical assistance to Field Service Engineers on critical and complex problems.
• Conduct training for both team members and customers on the safe operations, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of the machines and related equipment.
• Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
• Accurately complete all reports in a timely manner as per the service department procedures.
• Adhere to the Service Department Code of Conduct Guidelines.
• Maintain regular contact with the Diagnostics Team and Advanced Technical Support Department to obtain assignments and communicate updates.
• Complete additional tasks as requested by the Technology Manager or Head of Customer Care
• Assist the Regional Service Supervisors in closing calls and retrieving RMA's.
• Assist with the development of service procedures to increase the Field Service Engineers efficiency and productivity.

Your profile

• Associate's Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering from a University or Technical College; over 6 years' experience with a similar manufacturing or machine tool company; or and equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with the use of test equipment and EDM and/or Milling machines.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Systems, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Power BI is required. Knowledge of Great Plains or similar software programs is helpful.
