Job summary

Volvo Penta North America is seeking a seasoned Field Service Technician to support industrial and marine engines across a defined US territory, with travel up to 50%.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and install products, develop dealer capabilities in new tech like electrification, and report to the Manager Field Service. Strong mechanical/electronic expertise and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, industrial technology, or related technical field or the appropriate equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource for complex applications, troubleshooting, and repair issues for industrial and marine engines.
• Respond to advanced technical inquiries via phone, case management, and on-site service when required.
• Liaise between dealer base, customers, technical support and quality teams.
• Lead investigations into product complaints, failures, and safety incidents; document findings and drive resolutions.
• Provide feedback with Technical Support and Competence Development teams about recurring issues and gaps.
• Support failure analysis, data acquisition, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote continuous improvement across functions and dealer networks.
