Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and train customers on proprietary machinery.
• Diagnose technical issues, troubleshoot, and implement on-site and remote solutions.
• Program components and run FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests).
• Assist with commissioning, start-up, and preventive maintenance of new equipment.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on upgrades; produce service reports and diagrams.
• Support spare parts identification, ordering, and inventory management.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations.

Description

An established leader in high-end industrial packaging equipment manufacturing is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer. This role uses a facility in the Greater Philadelphia, PA area as a home base, with extensive domestic travel (50%+) to customer sites to install, repair, and optimize industrial packaging machinery. When not traveling, candidates must report to the local facility daily. This is a full-time, non-remote position.

Principal Responsibilities

• Install, repair, maintain, and train customers on proprietary machinery.
• Diagnose technical issues, troubleshoot, and implement solutions on-site and remotely.
• Program components and run Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
• Assist with the commissioning, start-up, and preventive maintenance of new equipment.
• Collaborate with internal engineering and quality teams to report upgrade opportunities.
• Produce detailed service reports and maintain technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
• Support spare parts identification, ordering, and inventory management.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols and industry regulations.

Required Competencies & Qualifications

• Technical Experience: Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation software; integration experience across hardware, software, and controls preferred.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong mechanical and electrical background with industrial packaging machinery.
• Education & Experience:
• HS Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Engineering fields with 10+ years of field service experience, OR
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, or Electrical fields with 5+ years of field service experience.
• Licensure: Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Travel: Minimum 50% domestic travel required.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to walk, climb ladders, stand, stoop, kneel, and perform heavy lifting (unassisted up to 100 lbs., average lift under 20 lbs.).
• Environment: Exposure to client facilities across food, agriculture, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical industries. Standard office environment when on-site at headquarters.

Position Type & Schedule

• Full-time, salaried non-exempt role with overtime requirements.
• Standard hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Weekend work includes bonus pay.
