OMEGA, Inc. is seeking a motivated Field Service Engineer to join our UK LDS Service team at Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBK). In this role, you will commission, maintain, and repair market-leading LDS vibration test systems while carrying out frequent customer site visits across the UK and occasional travel to Europe.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and possess strong analytical and communication skills. A clean driving record and fluency in English are essential, with additional languages being a plus.

Qualifications

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated and technically curious Field Service Engineer to join our UK LDS Service team at Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBK). The role involves maintaining, commissioning, and repairing our market‑leading LDS vibration test systems, and includes frequent customer site visits across the UK, occasional travel to Europe, and periodic visits to our Royston facility. When not on customer sites you will work from home.

Responsibilities

• Commission, maintain and repair HBK LDS vibration test systems in line with company procedures.
• Conduct fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
• Plan and organise customer visits based on the service schedule.
• Document all work performed through visit reports and CRM updates.
• Provide post‑sales support to customers, helping resolve technical issues and ensuring a positive HBK experience.
• Collaborate closely with UK and European team members to ensure excellent service delivery.

Technical Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical/apprenticeship experience.
• Ability to understand or willingness to learn mechanical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• IT‑literate: proficient in Word, Excel, email and CRM systems.
• Clean driving record.
• Fluent in English; French or Spanish is a plus.
• Experience with vibration systems or prior field service work is an advantage.

Eligibility Requirement

This role involves work on secure UK and EU defence sites, so candidates must meet the eligibility criteria typically associated with holding UK or EU nationality.
