Job summary

Praetorian Power Protection LLC seeks a Field Service Engineer to troubleshoot, test, commission and maintain electrical power systems across diverse facilities in Seattle and beyond. You will work independently or with teams, performing acceptance and maintenance testing on low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment, with opportunities for international assignments.

The role requires strong reading of schematics, SCADA and relay systems, plus safe field practices (LOTO) and data recording.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years electrical testing experience preferred.
  • NETA Level II/III certification required.
  • NICET II/III certification preferred.
  • Background check required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Perform start-up services on switchgear and electrical systems up to 500 kV.
  • Read and interpret complex power system studies (short circuit, arc flash, protective device coordination, reliability, harmonics, load flow).
  • Record test data accurately and reliably.
  • Travel throughout the United States; potential international assignments.

Job description

The Field Service Engineer at Praetorian Power Protection is responsible for troubleshooting, electrical testing, commissioning, and maintaining electrical power systems and related equipment. The position requires the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team across a variety of facilities, including data centers, commercial buildings, government facilities, and industrial sites. This role is based in Seattle, Washington, with travel throughout the United States as required and potential opportunities for international assignmentsPrimary Job DutiesPerform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical power distribution equipment, including low-, medium-, and high-voltage circuit breakers; cables; switchboards; switchgear; switches; metering and control systems; protective relays; uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems; battery systems; and other related electrical equipment.Perform start-up services on switchgear and electrical systems up through the 500-kV class.Proficient in troubleshooting systems and components up to 500-kVAbility to read and interpret complex power system studies including short circuit, arc flash, protective device coordination, reliability, harmonics and load flow analysis.Complete test data recording accurately and reliably.Experience, Skills, and Abilities5+ years of electrical testing experience is preferred.Industrial Safety Processes and LOTOAbility to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and three-line drawings.Work safely in Low, Medium and High voltage applications.Experienced using various test equipment such as megger, hi-pot, WRM, TTR, power factor test set, high current breaker test sets, etc.Proficient in LOTO and Job Hazard Analysis practices.Record and interpret test data (components, power quality, engineering studies, etc.)Maintain strong client relationships.Job QualificationsNETA Level II or Level III certificationNICET II- NICET III certificationBackground checkAbility to work in construction environments indoor and outdoor in all weather conditions.Climb and on ladders and scaffolding and work on man-lifts occasionally.Lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds.
