Job description

United Power Services is seeking experienced Senior Field Service Technicians to perform acceptance, maintenance, and troubleshooting testing on medium- and high-voltage electrical equipment across North America. This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy travel, solving complex electrical problems, and working on critical power systems that keep industries, utilities, and data centers operating safely and reliably.

What You'll Do
  • Perform testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Conduct field testing on breakers, transformers, switchgear, relays, motor control centers, and associated equipment.
  • Perform insulation resistance, contact resistance, transformer turns ratio (TTR), power factor, circuit breaker timing, and other electrical diagnostic testing.
  • Interpret test results and identify equipment deficiencies or failure risks.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation using industry-standard software.
  • Support energization, commissioning, and outage activities.
  • Lead field crews and mentor junior technicians when assigned.
  • Maintain strict compliance with NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Travel extensively to customer sites throughout the United States.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience testing and commissioning electrical power equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of medium- and high-voltage systems.
  • Experience with testing equipment such as Megger, Doble, Vanguard, Omicron, or similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, schematics, and relay settings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and interact professionally with customers.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel 50–75%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NETA Certification (Level II, III, or IV)
  • Experience with utility, industrial, data center, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Relay testing experience.
  • Electrical Trade School, Military Prime Power, or related technical training.
