United Power Services is seeking an Electrical Testing Engineer to support testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance at customer sites. This role is ideal for someone with hands‑on electrical experience who takes pride in safe, accurate work and wants to grow with a team that values their input.
What You’ll Do
- Perform electrical testing and preventive maintenance on low-, medium-, and high-voltage equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, and related systems.
- Support commissioning, startup, shutdown, and outage activities at industrial, commercial, utility, and data center sites.
- Conduct tests such as insulation resistance, contact resistance, transformer turns ratio, and Hi-Pot testing, as qualified.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, one‑line diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and communicate findings to project leads and customers.
- Record test results and prepare accurate field reports using PowerDB or similar software.
- Follow customer requirements, company safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and applicable electrical safety standards.
- Maintain test equipment, tools, and assigned company resources.
- Work closely with field teams to complete projects safely and efficiently.
What We’re Looking For
- Hands‑on experience in electrical testing, field service, commissioning, industrial electrical maintenance, or a closely related field.
- Working knowledge of electrical distribution equipment and safe electrical work practices.
- Experience using electrical test equipment and interpreting results.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot problems in the field.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a dependable work ethic.
- Ability to work independently within your qualifications and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel approximately 50–65%, depending on project needs.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and outage schedules as required.
- Ability to perform field duties that may involve lifting equipment, climbing, standing for extended periods, and working in varying site conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
- NETA Level II certification or higher.
- Technical degree, electrical apprenticeship, or relevant military electrical training.
- Experience with medium- and high-voltage testing, substations, or data center commissioning.
- Familiarity with PowerDB and applicable NETA testing standards.
- OSHA 10/30 or NFPA 70E training.
