Job summary

RMS Energy Co, LLC is seeking Field Service Technicians to test, maintain, and commission high-voltage power systems at industrial sites across the United States. You will work with relays, transformers, breakers, SCADA systems, and more while traveling up to 75% of the time.

The role requires 3–5 years of field experience, familiarity with PowerDB, NFPA 70E/OSHA 1910.269, and NETA Level II certification is preferred or pursued. Strong communication skills and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of field experience testing, maintaining, and commissioning power systems up to 500kV.
  • Experience with megohmmeters, TTRs, contact resistance testers, and insulation testers.
  • Familiarity with PowerDB or similar test documentation software.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70E, OSHA 1910.269, and field safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.
  • NETA Level II certification preferred or actively pursuing certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
  • Organized, safety-conscious, and capable of independent time management.

Responsibilities

  • Test, maintain, and commission power systems from 480V to 600kV at industrial sites.
  • Run field tests (TTR, insulation resistance, Power Factor, Tan Delta, VLF, DC Hi-Pot).
  • Test relays (electromechanical and solid-state) with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot control circuits, relay logic, and protection schemes.
  • Function check panels, trip/alarm circuits, and SCADA signal integrity.
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Read schematics and one-line diagrams; interpret manuals.
  • Communicate with customers on-site and provide job updates.
  • Keep accurate reports and calibration records.
  • Follow safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout, PPE, JHA).
  • Use hand tools safely; inspect PPE and tools.
  • Mentor Tech I team members on procedures and safe practices.
