Job Description:

Field Engineer

HOW A FIELD ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues for our equipment and systems.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on hardware, software, and network issues to restore functionality.
  • Promote and provide GDIT products or services in government customer locations.
  • Maximize customer satisfaction, including resolving issues promptly.
Installation and Maintenance:
  • Advise on installation, configuration, and enhancement of GDIT technical products and systems.
  • Install, configure, and test new equipment according to specifications and guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
Customer Training and Support:
  • Act as a liaison to increase brand loyalty and communicate effectively with customers.
  • Train end-users on system use, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide remote support when on-site visits are not feasible.
  • Maintain relationships with customers and address their needs promptly.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Create performance reports and manage complex projects.
  • Document service visits, issues, solutions, and recommendations.
  • Report recurring issues and suggest improvements.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work with sales, product, and engineering teams to ensure high service levels.
  • Serve as a liaison between customer and company.
  • Support business plans and initiatives, paying attention to detail and organization.

Follow privacy regulations, create technical reports, present to customers, and develop partnerships with vendors. Report to the service manager.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining technical concepts.
  • Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time, and prioritize tasks.
  • Must drive to customer locations daily; company vehicle provided.
  • Technical support experience with communication systems (Microwave, Radar, Video surveillance) is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Education: Bachelor of Science preferred; High School diploma mandatory.
  • Experience: 2+ years in related fields; experience in IT, network, or security operations helpful.
  • Must obtain Public Trust BI clearance.
  • Location: Remote, based in Laredo, TX.

Salary range: $85,000 - $115,000, based on experience, location, and contractual requirements.
