Job summary

Genie Matthews and Associates seeks a technically skilled Field Service Engineer to support our growing industrial equipment and controls service operation in Addison, IL. You will install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair custom testing systems at customer sites while documenting procedures and improving service processes.

• 2+ years hands-on maintenance, field service or industrial technical experience on equipment.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read schematics and use diagnostic tools/meters.
• BS/AAS or technical certifications in electronics/engineering preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Professional communication in customer-facing situations.

Field Service Engineer – Industrial Equipment & Controls

Overview

We're hiring a technically Field Service Engineer to take on a pivotal role within a growing service operation based in Addison, IL. When you're at a customer site, you're the technical expert and the face of the company. When you're back at the facility, you're working on the back end, writing SOPs, converting paper records into digital systems, updating manuals, and putting real organizational structure around a service department that's ready to grow.

This is not a role where you show up, fix something, and move on. You'll leave a real mark on how this business delivers service.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer locations to install, commission, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair custom-built testing and industrial equipment
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues across electrical, controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
• Provide hands-on training to customer personnel covering proper operation, maintenance, and safety procedures

Requirements

• 2+ years of hands-on maintenance, field service or industrial technical experience working on equipment; prefer manufacturing or military experience
• Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
• Ability to read schematics and work confidently with diagnostic tools and meters
• BS, AAS, or technical certifications in electronics, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
• Polished, professional communication skills with a consultative approach in customer-facing situations
• Comfortable identifying and discussing service opportunities directly with clients
• Organized and self-directed, able to manage a full schedule with minimal oversight
• Willing to travel approximately 3-4 days / week, 70% domestically, with occasional international trips
• Valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain both
