Job summary

JBT Marel seeks a Field Service Controls Technician to install, service, and repair equipment at customer sites globally. You will work with Allen-Bradley PLCs, Beckhoff platforms, and related control systems while performing software and electrical maintenance.

The role requires reading electrical schematics, CAD drawings, and P&ID diagrams, with substantial travel (up to 90%), including international assignments. A technical background and hands-on problem solving are essential for success.

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in control systems applications like Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff.
3-5 years of experience with electrical schematics reading.
Solid mechanical knowledge with blueprint reading ability.
Two-year technical school training or related bachelor’s degree preferred.
Travel includes nights and weekends and may fluctuate due to business need/priority.
Up to 90% travel required, including some international.
Manufacturing experience in food and beverage industry preferred.

Responsibilities

Install, service, and repair equipment at customer sites.
Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems and recommend software repairs or updates.
Work with PLCs and control systems hardware/software (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff).
Read CAD drawings, P&ID’s, and flow schemes.
Prepare and submit inspection reports, service reports, and time/expense reports weekly.
Recommend equipment modifications to prevent future issues.
Consult with engineering to resolve unusual problems in operation and maintenance.
Create functional HMI screens for operator interaction.
Write and/or modify PC or PLC programs to control equipment.
Maintain proper revision control of changes.
