Job summary

Burkert USA Corp is a world-leading manufacturer of process measuring and control technology. This role supports field service, calibration, and on-site commissioning across pharmaceutical, biotech, and industrial sites, with travel nationwide and a base in the Charlotte office.

You will install, calibrate, and troubleshoot valves, sensors, and instrumentation, prepare field reports, and identify service opportunities.

Qualifications

5+ years in field service, instrumentation, or hands-on maintenance in process industries.
Experience with on-site installation, commissioning, and repair of valves/instrumentation/automation equipment.
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting on electro-pneumatic systems and control loops.

Responsibilities

Install and commission Bürkert valves, actuators, manifolds, and instrumentation at pharmaceutical, biotech, food & beverage, and industrial sites.
Perform startup checks, loop checks, and functional testing per Bürkert procedures and industry standards.
Configure, parameterize, and calibrate devices to customer specs on-site, including basic field adjustments.
Document commissioning activities and provide test records and customer sign-off.
Field calibration, diagnostics & repair; on-site calibration of valves, sensors, and instrumentation.
Diagnose and resolve issues in control valves, positioners, manifolds, and sensor systems.
Repair and replace components following Bürkert and customer procedures.
Identify root causes and propose corrective actions; advise on maintenance intervals and spares.
Interface with calibration houses and QA/Validation teams to ensure traceability.
Act as technical face of Bürkert at customer sites and brief customers on findings.
Identify service opportunities and support proposals and scopes of work.
Collaborate with sales and service management to develop regional service offerings.
Support internal training and mentoring of technicians as the team grows.
Submit detailed field service and calibration reports within agreed timeframes.
Maintain records of instruments, references, and calibration results in service tools.
Manage tools, test equipment, and spare parts inventory; ensure calibration status.
Travel nationwide to customer sites; coordinate with service coordinator to minimize downtime.
Typical travel up to 60%; remaining time at Charlotte office for internal work.
