Curtis Power Solutions, a subsidiary of Indel Power Group, has an opening for a Field Sales Engineer at our location in Richmond, VA.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain proactive communication with customers, technicians, engineers, contractors, end users, internal teams, and other partners regarding ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Conduct face-to-face visits with engineers, electrical contractors, end-user accounts, and other key stakeholders to build strong relationships and uncover opportunities.
- Serve as a communication hub for internal and external partners, helping guide projects from inception through successful turnover and close-out to the end user.
- Identify customer needs, provide application support and technical assistance, adapt and empathize with customer concerns, and coordinate with inside advisors, management, and other internal teams for a quick and effective resolution.
- Communicate professionally through email, written reports, and correspondence, while being engaging and enthusiastic in customer conversations.
- Take the lead in seeing problems through, including urgent issues involving down units, parts replacement, and other customer-impacting needs; exhaust available options to support resolution.
- Remain available to assist customers and co-workers as needed, promoting a collaborative and responsive work culture.
- Represent the company with a "Best is Our Standard" mindset in every interaction.
Sales Strategy, Territory Growth & Market Development
- Support and grow the assigned sales territory by developing account and sales strategies, identifying target clients and market opportunities, and cultivating strong business relationships.
- Facilitate sales transactions and develop strategies to close orders while adapting to market and channel dynamics.
- Track and influence projects from the design phase through implementation, working closely with engineers, contractors, project management, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate with engineers to position mtu Rolls-Royce as the basis of design for applicable projects.
- Develop and execute sales call plans, prospecting activities, and follow-up efforts to meet growth objectives.
- Increase account value and revenue by effectively communicating and positioning the company's value proposition.
- Participate in trade shows and professional industry events to enhance visibility, strengthen relationships, and uncover new leads and opportunities.
- Coordinate weekly with the sales team regarding quotation activity and follow-up efforts.
Technical & Application Support
- Provide application support and technical assistance for power generation solutions and products.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of building electrical distribution systems and components.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams and schematics and perform electrical formula calculations.
- Arrange accurate, professional proposals and solutions tailored to customer requirements.
- Coordinate effective communication and follow-up between field sales, project management, inside teams, technicians, and other stakeholders.
- Communicate workflow improvement opportunities with the team and management.
- Respond effectively to changing workloads, schedules, customer needs, and field conditions while maintaining a high level of productivity.
- Maintain accurate and timely Salesforce CRM opportunities and activity, including product, account, costing, project stage, notes, follow-up actions, and other relevant opportunity details.
- Prepare sales call reports, sales activity reports, and market analysis to monitor performance and help capture data analytics, market trends, and opportunities.
- Effectively utilize company business systems, software, and tools and comply with company policies and guidelines.
- Submit expense reports, mileage logs, and other required administrative documentation in a timely manner.
Qualifications

- Engineering degree preferred; Electrical or Mechanical related.
