Job description

Power Generation Field Service Technician – Fredericksburg, VA Pay: $20–$40 per hour

Curtis Power Solutions, a subsidiary of Indel Power Group, is looking for an experienced technician to join our field service team. The role welcomes both recent entrants to the field and seasoned professionals. Indel Power Group is a distributor/dealer for major brands such as MTU, Daimler/Mercedes, Perkins, PSI Engines, Detroit Diesel, Kohler, Cummins, Caterpillar, and Volvo Penta.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose malfunctions, conduct repairs, perform preventive maintenance, adjustments, and overhauls.
• Commit to safety standards and maintain a clean work area.
• Communicate job status, updates, and changes to management.
• Use low‑ and high‑voltage load banks for testing and repair of generator sets.
• Determine corrective actions by inspecting failed parts.
• Order replacement parts and services efficiently.
• Perform electrical and mechanical repairs to engines, generators, or components.
• Start up and commission large genset units with automatic transfer switches.
• Occasionally drive to job sites.

Physical Demands

Technician roles are physically demanding, requiring prolonged periods of standing and/or walking. Occasional heavy lifting and pushing/pulling of objects up to 50 pounds (or more) may be required. Working safely in noisy environments with odors, extreme temperatures, or humidity is essential. The role involves manual manipulation, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, stretching, or twisting to perform repairs and inspections.
