Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the implementation of jobsite safety programs, promote safety culture through training and inspections, and ensure OSHA compliance. This role serves as a field safety resource educating teams and guiding proactive incident prevention.

You will perform site inspections, track corrective actions, develop safe work plans, deliver toolbox talks, and maintain safety documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction experience and 1+ year in a safety role (3+ years preferred).
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926 standards and construction safety practices.
• Strong communication, organization, and training skills.
• OSHA 30, 500, EM385, CHST, or equivalent; CPR/First Aid Trainer; OSHA 510 (within 6 months) - Required.
• OSHA 500, CHST, or other relevant safety certifications - Preferred.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish - Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform jobsite safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Track and follow up on corrective actions to support incident prevention.
• Assist in developing safe work plans, task hazard analyses, and site-specific procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety programs.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training to field teams.
• Serve as a safety resource for employees and project leadership.
• Promote a strong safety culture through engagement and accountability.
• Maintain safety documentation, reporting, and records.
