Job summary

AMERISAFE is seeking a Field Safety Professional to perform on-site Loss Control Surveys for prospective and current policyholders in Jackson, Madison, and Pearl, MS. The role reports to Underwriting and Safety and includes travel within a geographic territory and occasional longer deployments.

Salary is based on experience; candidates may participate in FAVR reimbursements and have the opportunity to earn bonuses upon eligibility after offer acceptance and screening.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in safety or verifiable work experience in safety is required.
• Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and recognized safe work practices is required.
• Safety certifications or professional designations are a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Adequate computer knowledge and typing skills.
• Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 40 feet tall to inspect elevated work sites and endure field conditions.
• Strong sense of self-motivation and the ability to work independently from home and in the field.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage a geographic territory, optimizing efficiency of travel and expenses.
• Assess the insurability of prospects or policyholders and provide a detailed report of their work environment.
• Assess the current safety program in use by the prospect or policyholder and determine if it is appropriate for the risk.
• Observe the prospect’s or policyholder’s work site to verify hazard controls and communicate recommendations to reduce risk.
• Provide safety information to assist compliance and proactive safety planning.
• Conduct safety training and meetings for employees as needed.
• Schedule work according to priority and due dates of survey assignments.
• Travel as required; up to <25% overnight; occasional multi-week stays in other territories.
• Complete and return safety surveys electronically.
