Job summary

AMERISAFE, Inc. is seeking a Field Safety Professional to perform on-site Loss Control Surveys for prospective and current policyholders in the Jackson, Madison, and Pearl regions of Mississippi. Role involves evaluating safety programs, hazard controls, and reporting findings to Underwriting and Safety teams.

Some travel and a potential bonus program are included. Applicants must have a safety degree or verifiable safety work experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or verifiable work experience in safety is required.
• Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and recognized safe work practices is required.
• Safety certifications or professional designations are a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Adequate computer knowledge and typing skills.
• Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 40 feet tall and lift up to 40 lbs to assess safety.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage a geographic territory, optimizing travel and expenses.
• Assess insurability of prospects or policyholders and provide detailed reports of work environments.
• Evaluate current safety programs and determine appropriateness for risk based on potential loss and history.
• Observe worksites to ensure hazard controls are properly implemented and communicate deficiencies.
• Provide safety information to assist compliance and proactive planning.
• Conduct safety training and meetings for employees as needed.
• Schedule work according to priority and due dates for surveys.
• Meet or exceed department goals for quality, production and timely reports.
• Travel by personal vehicle; <25% overnight travel; up to two weeks away in some cases.
• Complete and return safety surveys electronically.
