Job summary

AMERISAFE, Inc. seeks a Field Safety Professional to conduct on-site loss control surveys for prospective and current policyholders across Memphis and surrounding areas. The role combines field visits with home-office coordination in support of underwriting and safety departments.

The ideal candidate has a safety background, strong communication skills, and a willingness to travel 25% overnight as needed; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or verifiable safety experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of safety regulations and safe work practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving history.
  • Must live in or relocate to the territory.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage a geographic territory, optimizing travel and expenses.
  • Assess insurability of prospects or policyholders and provide a detailed report.
  • Assess current safety program and its suitability for risk.
  • Observe work sites to determine hazard controls and communicate deficiencies.
  • Provide safety information to assist compliance and proactive planning.
  • Conduct safety training and meetings for employees as needed.
  • Schedule work according to priority system and due dates.
  • Meet or exceed department goals for quality, production and timeliness.
  • Travel via personal vehicle; overnight travel up to 25% typically; may be away up to two weeks.
  • Complete and return safety surveys electronically.
