Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist for the Industrial District. The role is based in Bagdad, AZ, and focuses on implementing and supporting the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) in the field, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, client expectations, and MSHA standards.

You will report to the Project Safety Manager and assist with incident investigations, hazard inspections, training, and corrective actions, collaborating daily with craft and operations to reinforce a safe work

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field of study is preferred.
• 3+ years of construction safety experience.
• Knowledge of construction or mine safety, current Federal and MSHA requirements.
• Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) to subcontractors.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations based on leading indicator trends.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions implementation.
• Maintain project files in MSHA compliance and in accordance with policies.
• Provide safety training on policies, MSHA orientation, and client-specific requirements.
