Job summary

MEC is seeking a Safety Specialist to support the Site Specific Safety Plan in field operations, reporting to a project Safety Manager. You will help apply contractor safety standards, conduct audits, and provide resources to implement corrective actions on site.

Travel and relocation are common as projects span nationwide; the role requires collaboration with operations and craft teams, ensuring compliance with OSHA/MSHA and corporate safety policies while promoting a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Preferred certification as Safety Professional or EMT.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan.
• Collaborate with field craft daily to promote safety program buy-in.
• Enforce Stop Work responsibilities to ensure policy compliance.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, and client requirements.
• Maintain project files per OSHA/MSHA and company policies.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Conduct daily hazard inspections and support corrective actions.
