Job summary

BCTS is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee safety leadership across the Kansas City metro, Topeka, Windsor (CO), and Ankeny (IA) markets. The role blends hands-on field supervision with program development, coaching, and compliance oversight in a multi-site environment.

Responsibilities include field site visits, audits, mentor coaching for Branch Safety Champions, investigations, and OSHA compliance, with travel to various branches and facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of progressive safety experience and field influence.
• Experience supporting mechanical contracting, facility maintenance, or similar environments.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management systems.
• Experience leading incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Promote and foster a proactive safety culture across branches and operations.
• Provide field leadership through site visits, audits, and coaching.
• Coach Branch Safety Champions and support their development.
• Support safety for mechanical service and facility maintenance operations.
• Lead investigations and root cause analyses of injuries, incidents, and near misses.
• Partner with HR, insurers, and TPAs on workers' compensation and liability claims.
• Support return-to-work and modified-duty programs to reduce risk costs.
• Contribute to Fleet Safety Program and safe driving initiatives.
• Coordinate safety training and LMS assignments; ensure compliance.
• Perform regular inspections and coordinate JHAs/JSAs and risk assessments.
