Delmarva Site Development, Inc. is seeking a proactive Construction Safety Manager to lead field safety efforts and uphold a culture of accountability.

This role requires hands-on leadership to anticipate hazards, implement practical solutions, and work with field personnel and contractors to meet safety expectations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy civil construction, OSHA 500 certification, and strong communication and organizational skills for effective safety

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of field safety experience in heavy civil construction.
• OSHA 500 certification and current OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer authorization.
• Hands-on knowledge of underground utility work, excavation hazards, and heavy equipment operations.
• Strong communication, leadership, organization, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with DOT compliance, OSHA recordkeeping, and Miss Utility process.
• The ability to translate project safety requirements into clear, practical direction for field crews.
• Ability to maintain a strong field presence and adapt to demanding schedules.
• Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.

Responsabilités

• Conduct field safety audits, inspections, and regular jobsite visits to identify hazards and verify corrective actions.
• Enforce company safety policies, applicable OSHA regulations, and general contractor and owner safety requirements.
• Review and implement project-specific safety requirements for all types of projects, including documentation, submittals, training, permits, and reporting.
• Develop, review, and coordinate Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), pre-task plans, and work plans for high-risk activities.
• Coordinate safety planning for excavation, underground utilities, confined space entry, lifting and rigging, and fall protection.
• Coordinate with project teams and other trades to address overlapping operations and changing site conditions.
• Verify applicable permits, utility clearances, and Miss Utility ticketing and clearance coordination.
• Lead weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and orientations for new hires and projects.
• Perform and document incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct shop and yard inspections to ensure safe practices and conditions.
• Ensure safe material handling, equipment use, and PPE compliance.
• Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and subcontractors to stop unsafe work.
• Support safety training, track certifications, and maintain safety records and submissions.
