Job summary

Berkel & Company Contractors, Inc. is seeking a Field Safety Specialist to work within our Maryland Region, partnering with the Superintendent and Project Manager to administer safety policies and ensure safe project execution.

The role oversees site safety programs across multiple projects, conducts OSHA/HazWOPER training, and performs incident investigations. Extensive travel across states is required to support safety management on varied sites.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in Construction Health and Safety
• OSHA Outreach Trainer for Construction Industry
• CHST certification preferred
• Knowledge of Federal and State safety regulations"
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong planning, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Proven ability to coordinate across departments and with external partners

Responsibilities

• Create, communicate, enforce, and improve Site Specific Safety Programs
• Maintain project safety binders and filing systems
• Coordinate safety planning meetings with subcontractors and field operations
• Review Site-Specific Safety Programs and Job Hazard Analyses prior to mobilization
• Conduct site evaluations and track corrections/deficiencies
• Lead toolbox talks and ensure proper documentation
• Perform incident investigations and coordinate with Risk Manager
• Identify safety trends and assist with proactive risk management
• Ensure staff training on safety topics and regulatory compliance
