Job summary

United Utility Services seeks a Safety Specialist to support safe operations across the organization. You will conduct field observations, lead safety discussions, verify policy compliance, and reinforce hazard recognition and risk mitigation with field crews.

The role is based in the North Carolina region. Responsibilities include conducting safety trainings, documenting observations, and supporting audits and customer reviews.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a journeyman lineman in electric distribution.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and utility safety policies.
• Effective communicator with leadership in field environments.
• Ability to travel extensively within assigned region.
• Proficiency with mobile documentation tools and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Field Safety Observations: evaluate crew compliance with safety standards; identify hazards; document observations.
• Training & Communication: lead tailgate meetings, safety briefings, and stand-downs.
• Incident Response & Analysis: assist with investigations and root cause analysis.
• Policy and Regulatory Compliance: verify OSHA/DOT compliance and review JSAs and site safety plans.
• Leadership & Culture Building: promote safety ownership and mentor field crews.
