Job summary

First Majestic Silver Corp - Jerritt Canyon Gold is seeking an Operational Safety Superintendent to lead the day-to-day safety function across surface, underground, processing, and support operations at Jerritt Canyon. You will supervise Safety Specialists, drive regulatory readiness, and translate risk controls into field execution, coaching leaders to own risk and stop-work when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, mining, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
• Progressive safety experience in mining or heavy industry with leadership or supervisory responsibility.
• Experience supporting surface, underground, and/or mineral processing operations; multi-area experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and inspection processes.
• CSP, CMSP, ARM, TapRooT or comparable safety and risk credentials.
• Strong people leadership, coaching, and talent development capabilities.
• Practical knowledge of risk management, critical controls, investigations, action management, audits, and contractor safety.
• Clear written, verbal, facilitation, and regulatory communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize competing demands, analyze trends, and deliver sustainable results.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, assign, and develop Operational Safety Specialists; set priorities and performance expectations.
• Maintain compliance and inspection readiness for regulatory requirements, company standards, permits, and site commitments.
• Support development and implementation of the site Risk Management system, including critical-control verification and risk assessments.
• Lead or support event notification, investigation, corrective actions, and learning communications.
• Collaborate with contractor safety management from mobilization to field oversight and closeout.
• Conduct and coordinate field inspections, audits, observations, and assurance activities; track actions.
• Partner with Mine Operations, Processing, Maintenance, Technical Services, Training, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Response, HR, and site leadership.
• Provide safety input for planning, change management, projects, and high-risk work; cover energy isolation, confined spaces, and related controls.
• Develop clear procedures, standards, communications, and performance reports; monitor indicators and drive improvements.
• Participate in emergency response, on-call coverage, and regulatory interactions as assigned.
