Job summary

HazTek Safety Management is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to provide field safety oversight for a large-scale heavy civil and site development project in Buffalo, NY. The role involves proactive safety leadership, coordination with project superintendents, and ensuring work is planned and performed safely.

Responsibilities include daily site safety oversight, reviewing pre-task plans, documenting compliance, and coaching workers and subcontractors on hazard recognition.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated construction safety experience required for heavy civil or site work.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with field teams and leadership.
• Ability to coach and mentor workers and subcontractors on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
• Ability to independently manage day-to-day jobsite safety responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily safety oversight across heavy civil and site construction activities.
• Review pre-task plans and verify crews understand hazards and required safety controls.
• Monitor and review project EHS documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct field inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and follow through on corrective actions.
• Coach and mentor workers and subcontractors on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
• Work closely with project superintendents to coordinate safety expectations across ongoing activities.
• Evaluate upcoming work and help teams establish appropriate controls before work begins.
• Communicate safety concerns clearly and address issues promptly with field leadership.
• Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain a visible field presence and promote accountability throughout the jobsite.
