Job summary

HazTek Safety Management seeks an experienced Construction Safety Manager for a large heavy civil/site development project in Buffalo, NY. You will provide field safety oversight, coach crews, and partner with superintendents to ensure safe planning and execution.

The role requires proactive safety leadership, independent day-to-day management, and strong knowledge of OSHA standards. Travel and relocation considerations may apply as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated construction safety experience on heavy civil or site development projects.
• Ability to independently manage day-to-day jobsite safety responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and hazard controls.
• Experience reviewing pre-task plans and maintaining safety documentation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to coach workers and collaborate with leadership.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily safety oversight across heavy civil and site construction activities.
• Review pre-task plans and verify crews understand hazards and controls.
• Monitor and review project EHS documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Conduct field inspections, identify unsafe conditions, and implement corrective actions.
• Coach and mentor workers and subcontractors on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
• Coordinate safety expectations with project superintendents across activities.
• Evaluate upcoming work and help teams establish appropriate controls before work begins.
• Communicate safety concerns clearly with field leadership and address issues promptly.
• Support incident reporting, investigations, and corrective actions as needed.
• Maintain a visible field presence and promote accountability on the jobsite.
