Job summary

Onyx Corporation is seeking a Safety Manager to lead the health and safety program across Excavation, Landscape, and Materials divisions. You will partner with leadership and field teams to identify hazards, reduce risk, and ensure regulatory compliance while fostering a proactive safety culture.

The role covers DOT compliance, workers’ compensation support, and supervision of one direct report. Hands-on training and mentoring are expected to grow the safety professional within the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred for advanced roles.
• Experience in heavy civil construction safety.
• OSHA/DOT/MSHA knowledge and compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and continuous improvement of health and safety programs across divisions.
• Visit jobsites regularly to identify hazards and drive corrective actions.
• Coach managers and supervisors on safe work planning and analyses.
• Oversee DOT compliance program and related audits and reporting.
• Manage incident investigations and root-cause analyses; track corrective actions.
