Job summary

Messer Construction Co. is seeking an EGC Safety Coordinator to lead field safety on active projects in Kentucky.

This role partners with project leadership, supervision and trade partners to implement the safety program and sustain a Zero Injury culture through hazard correction, risk assessment and pre-task planning. The candidate travels to sites, conducts inspections, safety trainings, toolbox talks, and incident investigations, and ensures OSHA and Messer/EGC standards are met.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field is required.
• Experience with OSHA construction regulations and hazard controls.
• Experience supporting safety on active construction projects or with a general contractor is preferred.
• Ability to recognize hazards and communicate expectations clearly to project personnel.
• Experience delivering safety orientation and training.
• Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and safety reporting systems.

Responsibilities

• Partner with EGC safety manager, project leadership, and field supervision to implement safety policies and client requirements.
• Maintain a visible field presence; conduct site inspections and document findings with corrective actions.
• Assist with preconstruction and pre-task planning to identify hazards and establish controls.
• Review daily activities, JSAs, permits, and high-risk work plans for completeness and execution.
• Coach employees and trade partners on safe work practices and intervene when unsafe conditions are observed.
• Conduct project orientations, toolbox talks, and training for employees.
• Verify compliance with OSHA requirements, Messer/EGC standards and client expectations.
• Assist with incident and near-miss reporting, investigation and corrective actions.
• Maintain project safety records and regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate with operations and safety leadership on risks and resources.
