Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Site Safety and Health Officer to support federal facility assessment and hurricane recovery work in Kauai, Hawaii. The role involves identifying hazards, assisting crews with safe activity planning, and verifying that controls remain effective as work evolves on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of field safety and health support on construction or infrastructure projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
• US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections, safety observations, and pretask briefings across active work areas.
• Identify hazards related to damaged buildings, roofing, utilities, debris, equipment, and moisture mitigation.
• Review activity plans and help field teams implement appropriate controls and personal protective equipment.
• Document inspections, training, incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with construction managers and subcontractors to address unsafe conditions promptly.
• Support incident investigations and reinforce site safety and health requirements.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, construction management, engineering, or a related field
