Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Safety Specialist to support site safety programs across our industrial district. You will work under the Project Safety Manager, helping implement and audit the Site Specific Safety Plan on active projects and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Travel and relocation are required for project assignments. You will engage with operations and craft teams daily, conduct hazard assessments, and help train staff in OSHA/MSHA standards to promote a safety-first

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• OSHA 30 certification and EMT is preferred.
• 0-2 years of construction safety experience.
• Ability to travel and relocate as required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan.
• Collaborate daily with craft in the field to promote buy-in of the safety program.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations based on leading indicator trends.
• Support staff and craft to execute the SSSP effectively.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and our policies.
• Assist with first aid and relationship-building with EMS and clinics.
• Investigate incidents and implement effective solutions.
• Complete daily hazard inspections and drive corrective actions.
• Review work plans and ensure safety alignment before start.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
